West Des Moines Epoxy Flooring is an epoxy flooring company serving homeowners and businesses in West Des Moines, IA, with more than 20 years of experience preparing and coating concrete. We work on garage floors, basements, polished concrete, and commercial, industrial and kitchen floors, and every one of them starts in the same place: the condition of the slab.
We have seen enough peeling garage floors and lifting basement coatings to know that most failures begin before the first coat is mixed. That is why preparation, testing and plain explanations take up so much of how we work, and why we would rather tell you a floor should wait than coat one that is not ready.
Our Approach
Every slab we coat is opened with a diamond grinder or a shot blaster, never an acid etch, so the coating has a real profile to grip. Cracks, spalls and old coatings are mapped first, and a moisture test is part of the written scope before the price is final, whether the floor is in a basement or a garage, and whatever year the house was built. If the slab needs repair or replacement before it should be coated, we say so.
Our proposals name the product line, the number of coats and the finished thickness, so the floor can be checked against the quote. We explain what a coating warranty leaves out before the job is sold, starting with moisture. Cure schedules follow slab temperature and dew point rather than the calendar, which means an unheated garage in a central Iowa winter is sometimes told to wait. Grinding dust is captured at the machine, low-odor products are offered as a comfort choice, and we never sell a floor coating as radon or waterproofing work.
For businesses, we phase offices, stores and warehouses around business hours, with overnight and weekend windows when a space cannot close. Kitchen floors are planned around the 2017 FDA Food Code that Iowa adopts, with coved bases and texture specified for wet areas.
